DES MOINES, IA
CEO OF GIRLS SCOUTS OF GREATER IOWA
Jamie Boersma is the CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, serving girls in 67 counties in central and western Iowa, one county in NE Nebraska, and two counties in SE South Dakota, providing girl-led, cooperative learning, and hands-on programming for nearly 14,000 girls and 4,000 adults.
Under her directives of collaborative leadership and innovative perspectives, staff and volunteers pursue compelling projects for girls to increase awareness of important topics like anti-bullying, diversity, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Leadership and Financial Literacy. Her approach is intentional, strategic, and focused on showing every community we are taking a stand for girls. Jamie is extremely passionate, dedicated and committed to helping girls lead with courage, confidence, and character, to make the world a better place.
Prior to taking on her current role as Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa’s CEO, Jamie used that same passion to help improve the lives of Iowans with intellectual disabilities at Special Olympics Iowa. Previously, she worked at AT&T for more than 30 years, where she gained a tremendous amount of experience, consistently leading teams to success and developing leaders throughout the organization.
Jamie’s travels during her time at AT&T brought her to Iowa from her home state of Kansas in 1997, where she served as Moingona Girl Scout Council’s board chair for six years. During that time, she received the Girl Scout Thanks Badge, and gained an even greater desire to help girls develop the skills they need to succeed and lead in the world today.
She credits her mother for inspiring her to believe she could accomplish anything in life-something she carries with her today. She works hard each and every day to instill that same lesson in girls throughout Iowa.
In addition to her role as Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa’s CEO, Jamie currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Des Moines, is an active member at her church, enjoys golf, reading, and spending time with her husband, Dale, and son, Andrew.
