Sirdeaner Walker is an advocate who has traveled the country to talk about the need for anti-bullying laws and programs in schools.
Ms. Walker’s 11-year-old son, Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover, took his life on April 6, 2009, after enduring constant bullying at school. Vowing to do everything she could to make sure no other mother has to experience the same agony, Walker became a Board Member and spokesperson for GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, about the need for bullying prevention. She has also testified before committees of the United States Congress and the Massachusetts Legislature. Walker is currently serving as the Interim Director of Homeless Programs at the Massachusetts Career Development Institute and resides in Springfield, MA with her three children.
